Invisalign in Greenville, SC

A lot of us should have gotten braces as a child. Or perhaps we didn’t really need them until we were adults. Either way, the old school metal braces are just not an option at this point in our lives. Thankfully, there is an alternative. Invisaligns are a convenient and affordable way of correcting our teeth. Dr. Carl Burton can use Invisalign to help you get the smile you’ve always wanted.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic procedure that corrects our teeth without needing metal braces.  They are individually tailored clear braces that slowly and painlessly straighten our teeth. They fit right over our own teeth. Also, they can be taken off and are not as obvious as traditional braces.

Unlike braces from twenty years ago, Invisaligns are made from plastic. The plastic is BPA-free so there is no worry about contamination. They slide right over your natural teeth. They work to give you a perfect smile in a relatively short amount of time.

Are Invisaligns Painful?

Yes, at first, they can be painful. If this is the case, go see your dentist. He may be able to file down the sharp spots on the braces. Or if you don’t want to go to the dentist, put wax over the sharp edges. This will cut down on the pain and you will still get the benefits of Invisalign. People who have Invisaligns say the pain is not bad enough to make them wish they hadn’t gotten the braces.

What Are the Benefits of Invisalign?

It is not difficult to get Invisalign. Your provider will first make sure you are a good candidate.  He’ll also let you know if you really need them. Perhaps you just need a retainer. Or maybe you have some other issue that Invisalign may correct. Invisaligns are easy to put on and require little maintenance.

You will see the results of Invisalign within a few months. Within a year, you will see remarkable changes. They work a lot faster than traditional braces. You can even ask your dentist to speed up the process. He can give you a treatment like Propel that speeds up the straightening of your teeth.

It’s easy to care for your Invisaligns. You can brush them like you would regular teeth. You can also buy products from Invisalign that will help keep your braces clean and healthy.

Invisaligns will give you the smile you always wanted. Some people avoid pictures or are afraid to smile because they hate their teeth. Maybe your teeth are crooked or just don’t line up right.  Invisalign will fix all of this.

Some people complain that they are too old for braces. You are never too old for Invisalign!  There are people in their 50s and 60s who get them. It is never too late to correct your smile.

Are There Any Cons to Invisaligns?

As with anything, there can be some downsides to Invisalign. You may notice at first that you have a slight lisp. You will get used to the braces after a while and this will go away. The pain is mild if you feel it at all. And as we explained earlier, there are things you can do to help this.

You cannot just expect the Invisaligns to fix your teeth with no effort by you. You have to make sure you take extra care of your teeth. Brush often. Make your oral health a priority.

Invisaligns are not cheap. It can range from $3,500 to $9,000 to get Invisalign. And the process isn’t over once the braces come off. You will have to wear a retainer for the first 6 months.  Even after that, you’ll have to wear a retainer at night for the rest of your life. If you don’t, your teeth may go right back to their original shape.

Your teeth may need to be shaved before you get Invisaligns. This is nothing drastic. A very small amount of your teeth may need to be shaved off in order to get Invisaligns. Ask your dentist if this will be an issue for you.
